Let's start with some basic definitions:
A Segment returns a list of values based on the filters you configure. You can think of Segments as "smart lists"; they are constantly updating as data changes in ChurnZero. A Segment can return a list of Accounts, Contacts, Events, Tasks/Activities, or Custom Table records (examples: Zendesk Tickets, Salesforce Opportunities, Intercom Conversations).
Segments are the foundation of ChurnZero. Not only do they provide insights to help you proactively manage your book of business, but they can also be used to control other features in ChurnZero, such as Alerts, Plays, Journeys, ChurnScores, and NPS Campaigns.
Example: Abby wants to see her "Disengaged Accounts". Her department has defined disengaged accounts as customers who have had fewer than 5 logins in the last 60 days and have sent 0 emails in the same date range. "Logins <5" and "Emails Sent = 0" would be the two filters for her Account Segment.
