Segment filters help you sort through the information available so that your segments show you the information you're interested in. These filters are divided into categories. In this article, we'll walk you through the different segment filter categories and the types of filters you can expect to find in each. Use the links below to get information on the segment filters you want to learn more about.
NOTE: Not every segment type will use every filter category. Depending on the segment type you're working in, you may not see one or more of these categories unless you switch to a segment of a different type.
When creating your segments, you will see different options for filter categories. We've broken down the overall filter categories in this article. Use the guide below to find the right category for your filtering needs:
Attributes
Attributes include standard ChurnZero fields, fields from your CRM or other integration(s), and/or fields passed to ChurnZero from your product. These filters can include basic information such as contact information, activity, admin capabilities, and role information.
Examples of segments built with attribute filters include:
- Accounts that are renewing in the next quarter and have a high-risk ChurnScore.
- Accounts that became customers recently but don't have a CSM assigned to them.
- Notes that were written by a specific person.
- Contacts that are considered "Power Users."
Metrics
Metric filters show standard ChurnZero metrics regarding usage. Usage includes active days, time spent in-app, and changes over time.
Examples of segments built with metrics filters include:
- Contacts where the number of "Logins" compared to the previous month decreased more than 40%.
- Accounts where the Quantity on the most recent "Weekly Open Rate" Event was less than 25.
Engagements
Engagement attributes help to show how your CS team supports your customers. Examples of "engagements" include emails sent with the Gmail integration, associated tasks/activities, or meetings held over a certain period of time.
Examples of segments built with engagements filters include:
- Accounts that have more than five high-priority tasks.
- Accounts that have been sent a certain number of messages that are unread.
Alerts
Alerts filters allow you to filter based on account or contact alert history.
Examples of segments built with alerts filters include:
- A history of account notifications regarding renewal.
- A history of alerts for an account entering or leaving a particular segment.
Plays
Play filters allow you to filter contacts based on related plays and play steps. The filter for plays is separated into two sections:
- Under Play Steps, filter for results related to certain steps and play actions (like whether steps occurred, if messages were delivered, etc.).
- Under Plays, select what Play(s) you want to filter on as well as relevant status.
Examples of segments built with play filters include:
- Contacts who went through a specific play and unsubscribed from messages.
- Accounts that went through a specific play and contact(s) clicked links in messages.
- Contacts who completed a specific play but exited another play before it started
- Accounts that were added to a journey as a result of a specific play.
Journeys
Journey filters allow you to pull details on an account's process through the lifecycle of a journey.
Examples of segments built with journey filters include:
- Accounts that have been stuck on a particular Milestone in a journey.
- Accounts that are on track, stuck, or behind in a journey.
Surveys
The "Surveys" category helps you find information on survey responses, from CES History to the most recent NPS scores.
Examples of segments built with survey filters include:
- Contacts whose NPS scores increased over the last calendar year.
- Most recent answers to custom surveys.
- NPS detractors with "feature" mentions.
In-App
In-App filters help you to filter based on things your users are doing with in-app features such as success centers and walkthroughs.
Examples of segments built with in-app filters include:
- Contacts who have opened the success center and clicked on links within it.
- Contacts who have taken action on WalkThrough steps.
Other Info
The "Other Info" filter category lets you find information that feeds into your custom tables and other segments.
Examples of segments built with other info filters include:
- Accounts with more than five high-priority support tickets over the last month
- Accounts in Segment A AND Segment B.
- Contacts with more than 5 support tickets with a high priority over the past 30 days
