When drafting a message, you may want include a calendar scheduling link or some other web page link that is contained in one of your custom fields. You can find more information on adding these custom fields in this article.
If you input a Merge Field into your message, ChurnZero will drop in the value from the selected field in reference to the user sending the message or account/contact receiving it. ChurnZero will not recognize this value as a link to be clicked because we do not treat the value differently based on what it is (number, URL, etc.). However, there is a way to ensure the URL value contains a functioning hyperlink.
To include a Merge Field containing a URL as a link in a message, you will have to add it using the Hyperlink creation button to build the merge field as a URL. Then, you can input the Merge Field that contains the link into the URL field and add the text you want to be visible to your message recipient in the Text field.
To enter the Merge Field into the URL section, you must first know the value of the merge field you want to use. Note: This is NOT the same value as the text shown in the green bubble for regular Merge Field within text entry. To find the merge field real value, go to your ChurnZero menu Admin > Email Templates > click 'New Template', and use the 'Merge Field Lookup' at the bottom of the page. Copy this value, and place that in the URL field for merge field URL creation.
Note: If your CSM or ChurnZero Support deletes the field containing your link, the Merge Field will also disappear in all instances, resulting in a blank space in your messages.
