While using ChurnZero to reach out to your customers, you may want to send 2 or more in-app announcements at the same time. The expected behavior for these multiple announcements will differ depending on the type of in-app announcements you send.
Sending Pop-ups or Sliders
If you attempt to send 2 or more pop-ups/sliders to a single contact, they will not receive both at the same time. Pop-ups/sliders are triggered upon login and only ONE can be queued up for any given contact at a time (this is to protect the user experience and prevent a deluge of pop-ups upon login, one after the other).
If you sent 2 announcements on Monday morning, the 2 announcements will essentially battle it out for who gets the spot in the queue. The most recent pop-up/slider will always win the battle, and the other will be effectively erased from the queue. So how do we define “most recent”?
- If you have 2 in-app pop-ups/sliders set for the same exact time/date and a contact qualified for both, the announcement from the Play you created 2nd (most recently) will win out. Since this pop-up/slider takes over the queue spot, the announcement from the Play you created 1st will never be seen by the contact.
- If you have 2 in-app pop-ups/sliders set for the same date but at different times (say one is set to launch at 9am and the other is set to launch at 9:05am) and a contact qualified for both, the 9:05am pop-up is considered the most recent and will win out. Since this pop-up/slider takes over the queue spot, the announcement from the 9am Play will never be seen by the contact.
Sending announcements via Success Panel or Success Center
If you would like to send 2 or more in-app announcements and avoid the situation where one of them is overwritten, we have a workaround for this – the Success Panel or Success Center. You can send 2 or more in-app announcements to your Success Panel or Success Center at the same time. This “battle” of announcements only occurs when you have 2 or more pop-ups (or sliders) for the same contact during the same time period.
If you are not using Success Panels/Centers or want both announcements to be pop-ups (and there is a possibility that any given contact could qualify for both), we highly recommend staggering them (at least 24-48 hours in between launch) so that the contact has ample time to login, receive the first announcement, and then receive the second a day or so later. Again, this all goes toward providing a pleasant user experience AND ensuring the messages you deliver are read/comprehended by your customer.
